What is Recreation Administration?
This major centers on the care and administration
of various parks and other outdoor areas that are open
to public use. Recreation administrators are responsible
for the maintenance of the park and of resources allocated
to their disposal. They will be capable of assessments
of resource suitability, recreation opportunities and
development recommendations. The responsibilities include
not just administration, but planning for any development
proposals in future plans. This major prepares students
to provide effective leadership in recreation and leisure
services. Recreation administration involves directing
and managing the programs and business operation systems
of recreation and leisure settings such as park districts,
outdoor experiential education centers, state and national
parks, clinical hospital and community therapeutic recreation
departments, private clubs, resorts and youth organizations.
