Well school just started a few weeks ago and let me tell you, it’s a blur! I’ve been getting over a severe case of strep throat so I missed a whole week of school. A total death sentence for IB kids!!
For those of you who don’t already know, living in Hawaii is amazing. One of the benefits is how close everything is! For me, I go to school in an area called Hawaii Kai, but I live in Kaimuki. So that means I take the bus to school. Our bus has been said to be the best in the nation! Pretty cool huh? (not really… š )
I am a total music lover. So that means when I wake up at 5:45 am, the first thing I see is my computer screen choosing what Pandora station I want to get ready for school to. I thought I would take some time to tell you guys about what kind of music I like! Think of it as a kinda Nick and Nora’s infinite playlist…
Alright, first things first. No, I am not one of those girls who listens to crazy upbeat music in the morning. I love making breakfast to my Eric Hutchenson Radio on Pandora. He’s just the right amount of mellow with catchy tunes that have me singing along while flipping pancakes and eggs (see there is a reason I wake up so early!)
I leave my house around 6:15 am. So that means a new list of songs to listen to on my walk to the bus stop, and on the bus ride. I’ll let you guys in on my morning playlist… you should feel lucky, no one else knows what kind of music I listen to! I always start my walk with the song “It’s a New Day” by Will.I.Am. It gets me in a good mood for that mile walk to the bus stop, which has the potential to go totally bad if I start it out wrong! From then on, my music is on shuffle with songs like “Dance, Dance, Dance” by Lykke Li “Dog Days are Over” by Florence and the Machines and “Tighten Up” by The Black Keys. Right before I get off my 45 min. bus ride to walk up the hill for school I turn “Cinderella Man” by Eminem on blast. It gets me in the mindset of taking every opportunity I get, showing the world who I am, and what I can do. Yeah, it’s a bit dramatic for just going to school, but having that mindset helps me in everything! My classes are very worldly focused, so I’m one of those people who really does want to change the world. And who knows, my iPod getting me into the right mindset might just do the trick!
